Hanover Inn & Pine Restaurant provide ivy league town with luxe lodging

In “Ivy League Town Gets First Celebrity Chef Restaurant, Luxe Lodging,” Larry Olmsted from Forbes Magazine visits PINE, a new restaurant at the remodeled Hanover Inn at Dartmouth College.

Cambridge Seven Associates provided architectural design for the renovation and expansion of this historic college hotel, working with interior designer Bill Rooney Studios to provide the Inn with a fresh, contemporary appearance and new conference facilities.

Olmsted says of the transformation, “The changes are obvious as soon as you enter the markedly different and more upscale lobby, with its ultra-smooth centerpiece table of local granite, but the real changes are in the guest rooms, which all feature new furniture, oversized flat screens and much improved bathrooms with large walk-in showers and upscale bath amenities. The small fitness room has new state of the art equipment, there is a cozy and welcoming separate restaurant just for serving breakfast to hotel guests, and the outdoor terrace is finally taking advantage of its prime location on the corner of Main Street and the Green.”

He notes that the highlight is the PINE restaurant, headed by famed restaurateur Michael Schlow. “The setting is as impressive as the menu, a mélange of exposed wood, old barn board and contemporary style, with a large, sleek black fireplace in the middle of the dining room.”
