Discovery Museums of Acton

Architectural and exhibit master plan for children's science museum

C7A's master plan for the Discovery Museums of Acton transforms the site into unified campus. Pedestrian circulation between buildings will be dramatically improved, allowing for the inclusion of a variety of outdoor interpretive zones. The Science Crossroads will link the science and children's museum with an exciting new playground featuring zones exploring Light, Wind, Sound, and Water. An amphitheater built into a hillside will incorporate interactive water features while providing an outdoor performance space and informal classroom. An Environmental Discovery Museum will showcase wind turbines, photovoltiacs, solar hot water, and organic gardening, while a new ADA-accessible tree house will interpret the forest canopy and serve as a portal to a series of outdoor trails.
