High Tech Classrooms Promoting Interaction
Architectural renovation to create four technology-driven classrooms at Harvard Business School
Cambridge Seven Associates designed renovations to the McCollum Center to create four state-of the-art classrooms for the Executive Education Program, updating the Harvard Business School’s famous case study classroom model. The 80-person classrooms have tiered seating and incorporate motorized screens and blackboards, overhead video and data projection, wall monitors, and remote-control cameras. Each desk is wired with a microphone and power and data raceways, allowing students to connect their computers into the Harvard Business School's networks. The classrooms are designed for flexibility, with an extensive infrastructure of conduits and raceways that can be easily updated as new technologies are developed. All of the technology, from lighting and drapes to digital display, is controlled from the instructor's touchscreen panel located at the lectern.
