Aquarium renovation and new interactive exhibits exploring the Long Island Sound
As part of The Maritime Aquarium renovation, Cambridge Seven Associates developed new exhibits that introduce visitors to the Long Island Sound and encourage them to explore this unique habitat. In the “Sound and Beyond” Gallery a 5,600-gallon touch tank with fascinating underwater views features nurse sharks, cow-nose rays and southern rays and. In Newman’s Own Hall, a large map challenges visitors with interactive quizzes about the Sound’s marine animals and habitats while videos showcase the Sound’s history and the seals that visit each winter. At the “Changing Sound” exhibit, visitors are introduced to the geological history of the Sound and can explore their role in the Long Island Sound watershed.
