Carolina SciQuarium

Master planning and architectural design for aquarium addition and museum renovation

The Greensboro Science Center (GSC) commissioned Cambridge Seven Associates as the lead designer and Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates as Architect of Record to design a major aquarium expansion and museum renovation as part of GSC’s $20 million, seven-year master plan, which will be completed in three phases. The first phase includes a new museum entrance, visitor services, gallery renovations, and a new aquarium addition known as the Carolina SciQuarium. Designed for LEED certification, the Carolina SciQuarium is North Carolina's first inland aquarium. C7A also designed six major aquarium exhibits that highlight aquatic life in various settings, enhancing GSC’s capability to tell the story of water’s importance to life, adaptation and sustainability.
