A Vital Center for Business Education
Pulichino Tong Business Center
Master planning, space programming and architectural design for UMass Lowell business school
After completing a master planning and programming study for the Robert J. Manning School of Business at UMass Lowell, C7A designed the new Pulichino Tong Business Center (PTBC). Anchoring a key Campus corner, the PTBC acts as a new face for the North Campus Innovation District along University Ave. C7A also designed a major renovation to the first level of Lydon Library, which works with the PTBC to foster interdisciplinary connections between academic resources, programs, schools and departments. Library enhancements include a range of student service and project areas as well as team-learning environments. As part of the project, a new courtyard provides accessible entries to the PTBC as well as Lydon. The PTBC houses five academic departments and provides interior and exterior spaces to promote social and academic interaction, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a sense of community. This LEED Silver-Plus facility features a four-story atrium, technology-enhanced classrooms, seminar rooms, faculty offices, a finance laboratory simulating a trading room floor, meeting spaces and collaborative study areas.
