“Science Playground” Exhibit

Design of interactive science and natural history exhibits for Boston Children's Museum

As part of the Boston Children's Museum's architectural expansion designed by Cambridge Seven Associates, C7A was asked to provide conceptual exhibit and graphic design for two galleries: "Science Playground" and "The Common." "Science Playground" unifies into one gallery three BCM classic exhibits focused on informal science learning. C7A updated the look and interpretive content of these exhibits to emphasize scientific inquiry and four key directives: Notice, Wonder, Question, and Play. In Bubbles visitors get their hands wet while experimenting with bubble shapes and sizes. In Raceways visitors test the laws of motion with golf balls on curvy tracks. And in Investigate, visitors explore the museum's natural history collection and live animals at a demonstration counter and with group-oriented games.
