“The Common” Exhibit

Exhibit design for flexible and hands-on children's exhibits for Boston Children's Museum

As part of the Boston Children's Museum's architectural expansion also designed by Cambridge Seven Associates, C7A was asked to provide conceptual exhibit and graphic design for two galleries: Science Playground and The Common. The Common is a large public gathering area that transforms from an interactive children’s gallery to a special events space with seating for 180. The gallery features games, including a giant floor maze, shadow games, a pattern light table, musical chairs, and an oversized chess set. For special events, the interactives easily store in whimsical, origami-inspired boxes along the walls. Metallic coil curtains create a central participatory media zone and then pull out of the way for special events.
