Franklin Park Zoo Welcome Center

Architectural design for new zoo welcome center

Cambridge Seven Associates provided architectural design for the Franklin Park Zoo's new entry complex, known as "The Greeting," which includes a new Welcome Center building housing ticketing, retail, member and guest services, multipurpose spaces and visitor amenities. The bar-shaped building works simultaneously as a new front façade and an inviting service area, increasing the Zoo’s prominence on the street while respecting the Zoo’s historic fence, gates and Olmsted-designed park landscape. Architectural trellises create a comfortable shaded area for queuing, gathering, and relaxing. The landscape and live animal concept was developed in collaboration with Coyle & Caron, Main Street Design and Zoo staff.
